Rapper cum hypeman cum radio presenter DNG (Davidson Ngibuini) has resigned from Kiss 100 in what was about to result to a near firing.

The Keeping It Kenyan Presenter is said to have quarreled with his boss after she denied him an off day to attend a weekend gig in Kisumu where he was the MC.

"He went ahead and attended the event and this set the boss off and he must have known what was coming his way and decided to quit to avoid the disgrace of being fired," said a source.

When Mambo Badd paid him courtesy call,he declined to comment but later sent us a statement:I have come to the realization that I have been searching and pursuing in vain, a chase with no satisfaction and no fulfillment. Habida Moloney famed for the song Sunshine who recently got married to a man of Ghanian decent is said to have switched playing fields and moved to Tanzania.

The artist who yesterday was featured on Africa's Brand New Top 10 on DSTV has relocated to Tanzania after her husband, Daniel Ebo of the Intercontinental Hotel was transfered to Tanzania on a promotion meaning he had to move with the wife and child.

She however says that she will be constantly coming to Kenya to connect with her fans and also record since this is her nerve center. Her new song "Get down tonight" produced by RKay promises to be a hit.

Former Luyamba Junction member Mike Mondo has replaced Bernard Oduor (Papa Shaq) in a reshuffle by the station aimed at "taking its authoritative positioning in the market" at Hot 96!

Mike Mondo who resides in Mombasa, will now be doing the evening drive.

Hot 96 which is part of the Royal Media Services owned station has from today reshuffled its presenters while bringing in new talent.

Papa Shaq a while back spent 24 hours in a cell and was later arraigned in court for allegedly beating up a business competitor to near pulp.

At work, nobody knew of him being taken to court and when he failed to turn up, he was suspended indefinitely. He had received warning letters because of his conduct and when he failed to turn up with no explanation given, it proved to be the final blow.

A statement sent to Mambo Badd stated; "The station is already popular for having the best music in the country and its about time we got recognized for our presenters. We will not be recycling old talent but instead unleashing FRESH talent."

"On breakfast will be Nick Ndeda doing a highly energised inspirational show, meaning Chris Okinda now moves to the drive show. Ciku Kaittany remains on mid morning and we have a new fresh radio voice, Mike Mondo doing the evening show, he replaces Shaq (Bernard Oduor)."

The African Kokomaster is out to be the next Akon. After a hit collabo to the remix Mr Endowed with Snoop Dogg, D'Banj is working on a new single with Kanye West.

Word getting to the Mambo Badd desk is this was a rebound plan since, The Kokomaster had planned to do the collabo with Young Money's Lil Wayne but Wizzy turned him down since he could not meet the 1 Million Dollar Fee for the collabo.

This comes at a time after a Nigerian promoter used D'Banj's name in an event which he had not signed to. (I thought these things only happen in Kenya)

2010 Nzumari and Kenya Coast Music Award Winner Qritical famed for the song Weak Inside has now come out to clear the air about which crew he belongs to.

“ I am riding solo. I am not a member of East Coast Crew never have been and don’t think I will join them anytime soon,” he told Mambo Badd.

Qritical, who is currently working on his next 3 singles after his debut track did well both on radio and TV, says he is under Visual Jay Entertainment owned by renowned DJ Delph.

Qritical says he did not have a savory start with Hassan Feisal known in the showbiz world as Mr. President who is the current CEO of East Coast Crew.

“I cannot reveal the issues we had but I thank Mr. President for introducing me to the showbiz industry,” he added.

Qritical is currently working on a community project set to kick off in March.

MAMBA INTERNATIONAL SET TO RE-OPEN THIS WEEKEND

The all popular Mamba International Nightclub is set to re-open this Eid Festival courtesy of KTN's radio station - Radio Maisha.

The event dubbed Idd Mubarak is a Radio Maisha and Flames Entertainment initiative that will see Diamond and Ray C coming from Tanzania. Nairobi will be represented by Pilipili and Mejja and the host (Mombasa) will be represented by SAV Clan, Johny Skani, Ally B and Susumilla.

Mamba International Nightclub which used to be a hot spot in Mombasa went under after managerial issues between Hezbon Awiti and Smith Barger. Ever since it has had issues coming with even a time the club having changed its name to serve the Indian community.

SOWETO STRING QUARTET SET TO PERFORM IN MOMBASA

South African Jazz group Soweto String Quartet are set to perform at the Butterfly Pavillion in Mombasa on the 22nd September for the first time ever in Kenya alongside Eric Wainaina.

According to Safaricom, who are the main sponsors and organizers of the event, this will be the first place out of three for the group to perform. The event is set to start at 6.30pm with doors opening at exactly 5.30pm.

The Soweto String Quartet is a string quartet from Soweto in South Africa comprising of Reuben Khemese, Makhosini Mnguni, Sandile Khemese and Thami Khemese. Their music is a fusion of the "dance rhythms of Kwela, the syncopated guitars of Mbaqanga, the saxophones and trumpets of swaying African jazz and the voices of people singing in joyous, easy harmony". They became a full-time professional outfit in 1992 and they performed at President Mandela's inauguration, after which Mandela started recommending them for other jobs. Their "albums showcase the band's unique blend of traditional rhythms, Township Jazz, Pop songs, Jazz fusion, and of course, strong Classical influences. The songs are arranged in the band's unique and vibrant fashion - a true celebration of the resilient township spirit."

From Mombasa, the group proceeds to Nairobi, where they will be performing at the Nairobi Arboretum alongside Rhoda Ondeng who is Kenya's world famous Norway based Opera Singer. That performance is set for Friday the 24th of September and the show starts at 7pm.

Then the grand concert has been set for Sunday the 26th of September at the Impala Grounds where performers will include Soweto String Quartet, Rhoda Ondeng, Eric Wainaina, The Festival Orchestra which includes members of The Kenya Conservatoire of Music & Nairobi Orchestra, Safaricom Choir & Nairobi Chamber Chorus among others.

The grand concert is set to be shown live on KTN and www.safaricom.co.ke for those who wont get the chance of getting to the Impala Grounds on the material day. Live screening starts at 2pm to 6pm.

"I AM NOT PREGNANT!" SAYS JACKIE OF BLU 3

Blu 3's Jackie Chandiru is a furious woman with media in Uganda saying she is 8 months pregnant while she claims she is not.

" I am not pregnant. Never have been!" she tells Mambo Badd exclusively."Rumor was probably spread by some malicious people with reasons best known to themseves. Pregnancy is a beautiful thing so if anyone chooses to bring forth life to earth, they will have my full support."

This statement comes at a time when the other two members of Blu 3 are almost due with their pregnancies. Lillian who has revealed the father of her baby is controversial artist Radio while Mya has refused to reveal who the father of her baby is.

"I doubt I have enemies but not everyone can like you so I guess there are a few people in the business who feel that way," she told Mambo Badd. "Of course business has a slight glitch but it's a slightly longer leave than usual so I don't see it as a problem, am more excited about what comes at the end of the leave."

Jackie, on the flip side, is working on pushing her music, especially her solo album. "My brain functions nothing but work as in the next three years there is a high possibility that I'll pull back from performing arts and stick to behind the scenes."

KBC MANAGING DIRECTOR FIRED

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Board has sacked Managing Director, David Waweru and the firm's secretary Hezekiel Oira over impropriety in contract to broadcast FIFA world cup matches.

According to a statement from the board posted on the firm's website, KBC's Editor-In-Chief Waithaka Waihenya will continue serving in an acting capacity as the MD.

According to the board, the two have been sacked in pursuant to section 24 a) of the Employment Contract for the Managing Director and Section 15 (ii) of the KBC Code of Regulations.

The two were suspended in June this year when the deal involving the contract to broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2010 matches live from South Africa turned sour.

The KBC board of directors reportedly arrived at the decision after considering a report by the Inspectorate of State Corporations which has termed the deal as unethical and mischievous.

The agreement between KBC, Citizen and Radio Group Africa saw The Standard Group and Nation Media Group locked out of the World Cup broadcast rights.

This led to an outcry that prompted the Government to order that the deal, in which KBC entered an agreement to air the World Cup matches with Radio Africa Group investigated.

Tip Top Connection's First Lady Khadija Shabaan better known as K-Sher has quit Tip Top Connection just two weeks after the group's manager Babu Tale said she had been put on suspension.

According to press, it was not clear on K-Sher's position in the group after Babu Tale informed media that he had put her on suspension based on her irresponsible behavior and superstar complexion. Now, K-Sher has come out in the open and wants to come clean with the reason with the tension between her and the group manager.

Kenyan songstress and writer Suzanna Owiyo yesterday had a stunning performance at the Remand Prisons located in the industrial area.

Suzanna who was the main act of the day, entertained the prisoners with her hit tracks and even got a chance to mingle with the prisoners who kept on commending her performance.

"Today was the most amazing day of my life in a long while.In many years of my career I have never performed to inmates and today I got the chance," she told Mambo Badd. The crowd was wonderful and the inmates so behaved."

The event was organised by Nairobi Prison Boss Madam Wanini Kereri who was the former officer in charge of Shimo La Tewa for 3 years before being moved to Nairobi.

"I got entertained too with the inmates themselves especially Juma!Thank you Madam Wanini,Wanja,Joy and team for the invite!" She added.

WINYO, MAURICE KIRYA AND A.Y. HIT RFI DISCOVERIES AWARD NOMINATION

Kenyan guitarist Winyo has been nominated in the 2010 edition of the RFI Discoveries Award. Alongside him is Maurice Kirya from Uganda and A.Y. from Tanzania.

France’s international public service radio station RFI (Radio France Internationale) launched this year’s Prix Découverte RFI (RFI Discoveries Award). Since 1981 RFI has organised this award for singers and musicians which is open to entrants living in Africa, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean islands

The jury consists of a panel of music professionals, headed up by a well-known artist. In the past Jacob Desvarieux, Salif Keita and Youssou N’Dour have contributed to the selection process. The award has helped many artists on the path to international success, including Tiken Jah Fakoly, Didier Awadi, Tcheka and Amadou & Mariam. The winner of the 2009 edition was the young Senegalese artist Naby.

This year, the prize for the winner will be a cash award of 7,000 euros + an artist development grant of 11,000 euros + a tour in Africa + a concert in Paris + concerts at major French festivals including Musiques Métisses d’Angoulême and Jazz de Coutances.

Winyo Shiphton Onyango aka Winyo is a songwriter, who also worked as a professional photographer and TV producer, was accompanied on acoustic guitar, which perfectly suits the music he imagined. NONINI GIVES BACK TO CHARITY

King of Genge Hubert Nakitare aka Nonini yesterday visited the cancer ward at the Kenyatta National Hospital as his way to give back to the community after all he has been doing!

" It was a very ausome and inspirational day with the kids just to mingle with them,sing for them and make them smile atleast wasahau there condition kidogo," Nonini told Mambo Badd. "We did shopping for them, got some basic needs stuff za day to day na pia toys na colouring books za ku wa keep busy."

According to Nonini he believes the children are very talented although undergoing chemotherapy.

"Some can sing very well,others can colour and draw but the most inspirational thing that happened there was a kid whose leg had been amputeted and didnt want to be carried by anyone was standing by himself wow!" Nonini told us.

Nonini was joined by other artists, who during the Safaricom Face Off Live Season 2 which went down at KICC on the 21st of August, considered them as his family. They include Lady B, Frasha, Bon-Eye, Roza(Nonini's manager) and 2 of his Facebook Friends: Pauline and Mercy!

KENYAN IN THE APPRENTICE SEASON 10

Kenyans will most probably raise the viewer ratings for The Apprentice this season as one of their own is part of the 16 candidates to become the ultimate apprentice.

30 year old Liza Mucheru is one of the 16 set to be competing for the ultimate prize. Liza is an entrepreneur by proffesion and resides in Texas where she is also married.

Simon Kimani popularly known as Bamboo is said to make a comeback in Kenya in style this December.

The rap lyricist who currently resides in New York and was raised in Inglewood, Carlifonia until he was 17 years spoke to Mambo Badd exclusively.

"I'll be arriving in Kenya around the begining of December for a few shows. I am currently finishing my album and working out some details for my distribution deal. My panafrican movement project is being strategized by a team of people who include Cedric Muhammad who used to manage Wu Tang when they were big," Bamboo told Mambo Badd.

Bamboo recently released a brand new mixtape video known as Love Vs Hate which he featured international artist Vicki Secret.

The artist who was known for Kenyan big hit Compe, at the age of 17 was sent to Nairobi, by his parents to eschew the potentially dangerous life they feared he might have if he stayed in Inglewood. Bamboo transferred the success he was beginning to have in California to Nairobi, acquiring a record deal and producing his first album, Nairoberry, with his group K-South in 2001.He formed the record label Project 254 in Nairobi with Kenyan emcees Tim Waindi and Attitude. Bamboo is also a member of the record label The Grass Company, and he states that he intends to re-record a previously-released album "exactly the way [they] did it in Kenya but now with state of the art equipment" in Atlanta, Georgia..

Bamboo was featured in the film Hip Hop Colony as one of the premiere rappers from Kenya, and in a clip featuring himself and emcees Big Mike and Attitude rapping over live guitar chords, Bamboo's style combines American and Kenyan content while being delivered in a markedly American accent and flow.

When Mambo Badd asked him about the majority of his songs being in English, Bamboo stated, "Rapping in English is the only way to infiltrate the US rap game and get respect because without that respect no one will even bother with you."

2010 Chaguo La Teeniez Award winner for DJ of The Year - DJ Kalonje has a reason to rejoice. His longtime girlfriend Pam yesterday gave birth to a bouncing baby girl.

For the whole week, the Mixmaster DJ has been jitting up with goose bumps saying he would love to be the perfect baby daddy.

"I expected Saturday or Sunday but I guess she decides what time she wants to leave and it was Friday for her," Kalonje told Mambo Badd.

We asked him about the name of the girl. " The name Alaine has been ringing in my head for some time but it depends if the mother will agree."

We spoke to Pam who was really exhausted. "I just want to thank the Lord for this lovely angel, my supportive family and friends," is all she could manage to say before the crew was chased out of the room.

JAGUAR AND PREZZO BEEF FIRES UP.

Just when we thought the Jaguar-Prezzo beef fire had died down, the spark lit again. This time it happened at Skylux Lounge in Westlands.

Jaguar arrived at the venue before the alleged King of Bling. When Prezzo arrived, he walked out not noticing Jaguar was there spoke to the fans and telling them about how he is going to shock the country very soon. Then someone in the crowd mentioned Jaguar's name and Prezzo laughed.

"Ati Jaguar! Who is Jaguar? Do you know that boy claims he is better than me but ........ Do you know the car Jaguar claims is his that ka 7-series BMW actually belongs to my driver!" Prezzo said.

That was enough to spark a war. Jaguar headed straight for Prezzo but had to be held back by the Skylux security and got some advice by the owner of the club to keep it cool.

The two artists got into the club but each in his own corner and after close to two hours, Prezzo couldnot handle it and left the club accompanied by his security detail and Mike Strano's ex - Joy Wanjohi.

NYOTA NDOGO HOSPITALISED

Coast sensational artist Nyota Ndogo was last night involved in a grisly accident where the car she was travelling in overturned and rolled several times.

The accident occured in the Ganze area where it is not clear what caused the accident and the revellers claim it was blamed on a tyre burst. Nyota was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was admitted.

Nyota Ndogo suffered injuries to her hand, legs and stomach since she was seated in the passengers seat.

On Saturday morning at about 9am, she was transfered to the AgaKhan hospital Mombasa where she is going to get further treatment.

Mambo Badd spoke to her before seeing the doctor and she was quite optimistic. " Am okay, dont worry. The baby is still kicking so I dont think the baby is hurt but I need to find out on my condition."

The information was highlighted to the public via Facebook through one of her band members known as Eddy. Immediately after that, Facebook friends started sending their messages of a speedy recovery.

ANTHONY B SET FOR MOMBASA

Jamaican artist Keith Blair better known in the reggae fraternity as Anthony B is set to be performing in Mombasa on the 11th of September at the Big Tree Beach Bar & Restaurant.

The show that has been organised by Metro FM and Dotty Family will see radio presenter Jeff Mwangemi as the emcee.

Anthony B who has been recording since 1996 has 26 albums up to date with his latest album being released last year known as Rasta Love. He has also done several compilations with several artists including: Buju Banton, Sizzla, Junior Timba, Luciano, Capleton, Junior Kelly and his well known collabo being Real Warrior which he featured Turbulence.

Anthony B grew up in rural Clark's Town in the northwestern parish of Trelawny in Jamaica. His deeply religious family life (his mother was a Seventh-day Adventist and his grandmother a Revivalist) imbued him with a profound spirituality. During his youth, his favorite singers were reggae legends Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, musicians who strongly influenced his own style. Peter Tosh's influence can definitely be heard in Anthony B's vocal delivery and revolutionary stance.

Anthony B adopted Rastafari movement beliefs as a teenager, a decision which was not well-received by his family. The stubborn and determined Anthony B refused to give up his new religion and his dreadlocks and moved to the home of his aunt and uncle in the Kingston suburb, Portmore. He is a member of the Bobo Shanti branch of the movement. "Bobo Dreads", as they are known, are recognizable by their long robes and turbans. The strong Afrocentric pride and the other Rastafarian beliefs (or "overstandings" as Rastafarians prefer to call them) which are reflected in his songs.

After the 11 July dinner with the world’s most powerful man, - Barack Obama - Africa’s reggae music icon Blakk Rasta is at it again; this time he tells the story of how he met Barack Obama.

Blakk Rasta will be guest on the BBC’s Meeting the Celebrities programme set to air at 16:00 GMT on Thursday September 2, 2010.

The reggae sensation of Barack Obama fame says the opportunity to be heard by the BBC’s several million global audiences is rather humbling.

The interview programme comes after several dozen interviews with international media networks including the New York Times, CNN and Deutsche Welle.

The programme coincides with Blakk Rasta’s 36th birthday which, for him, marks a major turning point in his life.

“Life has been great so far but I believe this is the time to achieve even more,” he said.

Coming after several international assignments in Holland, Ethiopia and Canada, Blakk Rasta says the best platform to give expression to his life story is the book.

He will be coming out with a book that chronicles everything Blakk Rasta – from the lows to the highs, the saddest moments to the happiest times.

The Chufumta man is also making preparations to launch a charity, Blakk Rasta Foundation, that will focus on children who have been ignored or abandoned by their families because of their faith.

“Any child who will be given their walking papers from home because of their faith is our target,” Blakk Rasta said.

Blakk Rasta was born on the Monday of 2nd September 1974 in Tamale in the Northern part of Ghana, West Africa.

Ragga sensation Mohammed Swabri aka Redsan is set to relaunch his Versatility album in October this time with BET Award winner Keri Hilson as the top notch curtain raiser.

Redsan launched the same album on the 26th of June 2008 where he featured Jamaican sisters Brick n Lace which according to critics was a flop.

Redsan claims that massive delays with the management and distributors that were handling the album put the project on hold. There was also a legal complaint lodged by Blackstar Entertainment over unpaid dues from the last Versatility launch, which they handled. With no recent singles currently on the airwaves, it remains to be seen whether Redsan can pull it off the second time around.

Redsan is under the Dutty Sounds label who are working hand in hand with Mona Lisa Entertainment and Miami Vibe in bringing Keri Hilson down to Kenya.

2009 Tanzanian MTV Mama Award nominee who is also the First Lady of Tip Top Connection - K-Sher has been suspended from the group indefinately.

K-Sher, who is famed for the song Uvumilivu which she features Squizer, has been reported to be put on hold by management of the crew. According to Babu Tale, the manager of the group, they reached that decision after several warnings with no change.

Jen gave her speech about how she saved Code and replaced him with Sheila and “nothing personal, it’s a game and I’m sorry.”

Sheila said it was cool and there was a moment of silence before Meryl accompanied the Kenyan lass upstairs to pack her clothes.

Uti and Mwisho also tagged along and Sheila could not stop telling them that she had a hunch that Jen had put her up for possible eviction.

Uti burst into tears when Sheila's name was announced as the sixth Housemate to leave the Big Brother All Stars House.

Uti repeatedly whispered “safe, safe” into Sheila’s ears when IK made the eviction announcement, calling out her name, and keeping the Housemates in suspense before revealing that she was Evicted.

Uti, who was sitting right next to Sheila, just burst into tears. Jen, who had replaced Code with Sheila, also could not contain her tears and was comforted by Code when IK eventually said "Sheila you're evicted from the Big Brother House".

Munya was the most popular Housemate with 10 countries voting to save him, while Sheila had five countries voting to save her.

Therefore, because she received the fewest country votes, Sheila has been evicted.

If you did not watch the promulgation of the new constitution, thank your lucky stars because you missed the audio torture that was the performance by an ensemble of local musicians.

Some of our biggest names in music were at Uhuru Park to perform a song for this auspicious occasion. The song "Oh Kenya, My Kenya", written by Achieng' Abura and performed by Jua Cali, Nameless, Amani, Juma Odemba, Eric Wainaina, Suzzanne Owiyo and Victor Seii was nothing but one big embarrassment. You thought Project Fame auditions were bad, you should have listened to this group.

But all was not lost, one Emmy Kosgei did a splendid job with her hit Taunet Nelel and also Eric Wainaina repped with his ever green song "Kenya Only."

AFRICAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR FOR AMERICAN CHURCH TOUR.

The African Children's Choir which is currently in the United States Of America is preparing for a tour of several churches in September.

Children from Uganda and Kenya will share their lively music from their native lands. The choir is made up of some of the neediest and most vulnerable children in their countries. Many have lost one or both parents to poverty or disease. The African Children's Choir helps these children break away from the everyday cycle of poverty and hopelessness.

Before being selected to join the choir, children, generally between the ages of 7 and 11, attend Music for Life camps. These camps are stimulating environments that provide a break from the daily hardships that the young children face at home. When they return to Africa, the African Children's Choir provides care and education that builds on the unique international exposure the children experienced abroad. They receive education, leadership training and a spiritual ministry at the Music for Life Primary School in Kampala or at other schools in their countries.

There is no charge for the concerts, however, donations will be accepted.

Mombasa based hip hop artist Sokoro has had enough with Music Copyright Society of Kenya and has hinted that he is taking matters to the next level.

"These guys aint serious! Everyday you hear an artist got a certain amount of money and what not. Yet am one of the pioneers of youth rap music yet I have not even been paid for close to 3 years now," he told Mambo Badd.

Sokoro who is famed for songs like Sokoro, Hii Muziki and One Love where he has featured Ukoo Flani, even went ahead to give us his MCSK number. "My registration number is 1932. I want a serious lawyer we take these guys to court. Bottom line, I want my money."

Sokoro just last week was seen on his Facebook status complaining that other rappers are trying to copy his style and he is not amused.

Mombasa based and self proclaimed Ohangla Man formerly known as Mr Lololova - Makadem is set for a 10 Day tour of Denmark.

Talking to Mambo Badd exclusively, Makadem informed us this tour is going to be different from the rest. "I will be doing an Afro Hip Hop tour in Denamrk from the 21st of October all the way to the end month. I will be accompanied by a whole band including reknowned artist Al Agami."

The tour has been termed as the Womex Tour organised by One World and Around.

Makadem also hinted that Nyota Ndogo's brother Juma Tutu will also be leaving with them for Denmark since he will be playing the saxaphone and percussion.

Last Saturday the 21st of August while at the Ogus Baba Laugh Goes On comedy club in Port Harcourt, Big Brother Revolution winner, Kevin Chuwang Pam and his lady friend, and Revolution contestant Elizabeth Gupta got up on stage and performed a track together.

Nigeria’s biggest comedian, Ali Baba introduced the couple to the 2000 strong crowd. Once they’d finished performing “Una Pata Mambo” (Anything you want, right there you get it), Kevin went down on one knee and proposed to Elizabeth. He said he kept it simple and just asked: “Elizabeth, will you marry me”.

The crowd started screaming: “say yes, say yes, say yes” and obviously she did. Kevin then says a woman broke free from the crowd, ran onto the stage and congratulated them both with a huge hug.

Initially Munya was up for Eviction with Code but by the powers vested in her as Head of House, Jen saved Code and replaced him with Sheila. When Big Brother mentioned his name, Munya just went blank and starred into thin air.

Jen was ushered to the Diary Room by Kaone who was ululating as though excited that he was not in her shoes. Just as she entered the Diary Room, Code shouted “I love you Biggie.”

Munya and Sheila were Jen’s initial nominations but after saving Code, she paused for a while before deciding on putting Sheila up. Jen also told Big Brother during her nominations earlier that she would not Nominate; her friends Paloma, Kaone and Code.

As the Copyright Board of Kenya prepares to enforce the newly implemented authentication device, video sellers are closing down.

"We do not know what will happen when this law takes effect, but we do not want to take any chances so we are clearing these remaining videos," said a vendor who sought anonymity as they prepared to clear stocks.

The Sh12 million Kenya Copyright Board's authentication system will boost the fight against piracy.All retailers and distributors of audiovisual material will now be forced to have a three dimensional holographic symbol placed on all copies to show they are not pirated.

The hologram is embossed in a unique sticker supplied by the Copyright Board at Sh10 for each piece.The new move was aimed at guarding against piracy by ensuring that only certified distributors and producers dealing with original audiovisual material are allowed.

According to the Copyright Board, over 90 per cent of the videos and CDs sold in Kenya are pirated. The vice has grown over the years with the developments in technology. The arrival of the fibre optic cables have made internet access easily available and made downloading speeds faster thus making movie downloads faster.

The list of nominees of the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards has been released and there aren’t many surprises on the list.

Kenya has hit 5 nominations with in 3 different categories with Nameless and Wyre having 2 nominations each. Newcomer Avril has managed to secure her 1st Channel O nomination for the song Mama.

Nigerian stars MI, Sasha, D’Banj, Wande Coal, Banky W, Da Grin, 2Face, Djinee, P-Square and Naeto C picked up nominations while Newcomers such as Mo’Cheddah, Tolumide and General Pype were also recognized. Kenny St Brown received her first ever Channel O award nomination for her video with Da Grin ‘Turn Me Around’. Outside the shores of Nigeria, African stars including Dama Do Bling, HHP, Becca, Samini and Lizha James were also nominated.

According to Yolisa Phahle, Channel Director of M-Net’s Special Interest Channels, “What’s especially pleasing this year is the reach of the nominees… It’s great to see a country like Angola make its presence felt and there is a strong showing by artists from Ghana and Kenya as well. It’s now up to the artists and fans to mobilise in order to secure votes for the music videos that they believe deserve the honour of a Channel O Music Video Award. In the end, it’s the fans who decide who walks away with the statuette.” In total, the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards are spread across 14 categories – with five nominees in each category, except Most Gifted Video of the Year which features six nominees.

Gospel artist Alex Apoko aka Ringtone is about to auction his Toyota Celica for a charity purpose.

Ringtone who is set to be visiting Maua Girls at the end of the month will soon be announcing when the auction will be done to the highest bidder.

"The sports car is being souped up again but the day it will be finished will determine the auction day," said Ringtone, who now drives a four-wheel-drive Nissan Patrol.

He plans to buy land with the money and develop a talent centre, which will have a fully-equipped studio, voice-training centre and music instruments school, all targeting the talented but less fortunate youths. "I made it through hardships and this is my time to give back. I hope I can be able to make more less-fortunate youths realise their dreams," he said.

The auction day will be marked with a big concert, he says, all proceeds going towards the establishment of the centre.

The new crew on the block that call themselves The East Coast Crew is looking into having the Katenga Family come down to Mombasa for a collabo with one of their members.

According to member and artist for the stable, Innocent Sunday, a new approach will be seen in shooting videos this weekend.

"East Coast Crew has sourced for the Katenga Family from Nairobi into doing a collabo shooting for a new song by Dj Qritical Eric on the 21st of August at the Fullmoon Club, " Innocent Sunday told Mambo Badd.

The shoot which will also feature local coast celebrities and Dj's is sponsored by Coastal Films Productions. The shoot is scheduled to start around 11.00 am at the club.

"Sly the Kisser C.E.O Pinkaz Media has been assigned the role of model casting for the shoot," Innocent Sunday added.

Sources told us also that Coastal Films has hired modern shooting equipments and a trained proffesional shooting staff specifically for this shoot.

Trybe Deejay Elonn aka The Imperial got a surprise of a lifetime last weekend when his partner/dj mate - DJ Drop threw him a surprise birthday bash.

Mambo Badd, which was part of the surprise entourage, can actually report that the Mombasa based DJ dint see it coming.

Elonn, who had been told that it was a regular Friday night party came prepared to spin but to his shock at 11pm when the crowd turned on him washing him with water, alcohol and even food stuffs.

The party featured several big names in the industry including the Spin World Crew, Quayside Media members, DJ Fridah, Beyonce, his girlfriend and his friends.

It was comical when the party reached the climax, an amplifier blew up and the party had to be extended from the Summer link Rooftop to the Bella Vista Pub.

DJ FRIDAH BANNED!

Kenya Coast Music Award winner DJ Fridah was stopped last Friday when she tried getting in at Bella Vista Pub by the bouncers who claimed she was banned from entering the pub.

According to one of the bouncers who wanted to remain anonymous, he told Mambo Badd that the order came from a higher power. "I was informed by Head Club DJ - DJ Benz that DJ Fridah was not to enter the club no matter what and whoever allowed her to get in would be fired immediately."

After being stopped from entering the club, DJ Fridah resorted to calling the club owner - Kingori on her cellphone but unfortunately he never picked up.

According to further sources, it is claimed DJ Fridah brought fliers to hype the HomeBoyz Beach party which was to take place the following day at Big Tree Beach Bar and Restaurant and this made the club owner very furious.

DJ Fridah was one of the 5 DJ's playing at the Beach party. Other DJ's included:

BIG BROTHER UTI'S FATHER PASSES AWAY.

On Monday 9 August, Uti heard from Big Brother that his father had passed away. Big Brother gave Uti various options concerning his situation. Today (Thurs 12 August) Big Brother addressed the Housemates and the Barnmates and elaborated on Uti's situation as follows:

Condolences

Firstly, Big Brother would like to express condolences to Uti and his family on the sad occasion of the passing away of Uti’s father this past Sunday. Out of respect and sensitivity for Uti and his family, Big Brother would like to clarify the circumstances and conditions concerning Uti’s further participation in the Big Brother series.

The family called the producers with the news on Monday morning. Big Brother monitored a phone call in the diary room in which Uti’s sister informed him that his father had gone. His sister indicated that the preparations for the funeral may take up to three weeks.

Uti was understandably very upset and distressed about his father and confused about his status in the Big Brother game.

Status

Under ‘Emergencies’ dealing with ‘family crisis’ the Big Brother rule reads as follows:
‘Should there be any extreme crisis in a contestant’s family or private life outside of the show, Big Brother will communicate this to them. Should a Housemate and Big Brother decide that the nature of the crisis mean that they have to leave for any protracted time, they will not be allowed to re enter the house and may be replaced.’

Big Brother presented two options to Uti and his family:

1. Uti leaves the Big Brother house immediately until the funeral . This would entail an absence of 2 to 3 weeks as no funeral arrangements are in place yet. In this case Uti may not return to the game.

2. Should Uti attend the funeral only, an absence of 3 to 4 days including travel would be required. In this instance he would be accompanied by 2 chaperones, a senior member of the production team and a Nigerian who is conversant with the language of Uti’s family. This monitoring arrangement would be in place to ensure no communication with the outside world on any information which may impact on the contestant’s behaviour in the Big Brother series. Should this monitoring be judged to be effective, Big Brother would allow Uti back into the game on terms and conditions prescribed by Big Brother.

Uti and the family were given 24 hours to seriously think through the two options.

After 24 hours a follow up discussion was held telephonically between Uti, his sister (representing the family) and the producers. Uti and his family chose the second option - that is to leave the house for the actual funeral for 3 to 4 days, fully chaperoned, and to return to the game should all the conditions be strictly adhered to.

Big Brother has agreed to this option.

RADIO MAISHA OWES ALPHONCE OLADIPOH.

On Tuesday 18th May 2010, Radio Maisha’s Programming Manager Ali Manzu called Mombasa based Alphonce Oladipoh (Formerly With Radio Salaams, Now A Breakfast Presenter On Baraka Fm) and told him they were looking for someone to voice some station Identifications and Jingles plus program promos for their new station.

On Thursday of that same week, Oladipoh walked into the Radio Maisha studio and for 6 hours recorded over 25 different scripts ranging from Breakfast to the night talk show.

They even asked him to record 8 Pre Launch teasers detailing the frequencies of the new station and the towns. These teasers ran between Friday 21st May to Sunday 24th May.

In between the recording Oladipoh asked Kizito Namulanda (the Head of Swahili Services Standard Group) about the contract and he was told to ‘just continue, tumalize hii kwanza.’

After all this Oladipoh went back home, waiting for his cheque. He invoiced 100,ooo which Ali quickly said was too much so he changed the figure to 70,000. Ali still insisted the amount was too much.

Days after Oladipoh got a job at Baraka FM, Radio Maisha stopped using the jingles and they hired someone from Tanzania to do the voice over at a way cheaper rate. But at the end of the day they did use Oladipoh’s voice. When he tried getting word on his pay for the used jingles he kept on being referred until yesterday when he was told that they wont pay him.

Okay, Oladipoh didn’t have a contract, but if what he recorded was not worthy, why did Radio Maisha use the Voice Overs?

Uganda's top two singers Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool have been told they won't be given visas to travel to the US for the Uganda North American Association slated in two weeks time.

According to a letter from the embassy it gave 3 reasons why the 2 artists could not travel.

Chameleone & Bebe Cool have been involved in too many fights between fellow artists and fans. (Remember Chameleone's war with Vamposs or Bebe Cool's war in Europe.)
Most members of either crews usually disappear during this invited events.

Leading Coast based radio station Baraka FM is currently hitting the rocks with the staff complaining of 2 months un-paid salary.

According to a source at the station, the staff hasnt been paid their salary since May. Its still unclear about June and July salaries. " We were last paid in May and it doesn't look like we are getting our cash any time soon. When we ask management its excuses and excuses, " said the source.

Issues for the station started in November 2009 when they poached half of the Radio Kaya staff and fired half of the Baraka FM staff including the then Programming Manager - Pauline Matano, Human Resource Manager - Leah Gachegu, Finance Manager, Marketting Manager and her Nairobi team.

This led to a series of resignations from radio presenters including:

Bernice Machariah who was formerly with Capital FM and was hired as Marketting Manager also resigned shortly before the then Station Manager Sheila Maina resigned. Her position was taken over by Joe Lughano who was Head of Radio after being poached from Radio Kaya replacing Pauline Matano.

According to staff, the CEO, Peter Anaminyi has not informed them of the lateness in their salaries and staff are made to make their own decisions.

"We are leaving like walking time bombs!" said the source." Anytime you could be fired if you haven't resigned yet."

About a month ago some of the resigned presenters had threatened to take the management to court since they owed them more than half a million in un-paid salaries.

RAY C STUCK IN KENYA

Popular Bongo songstress Rehema Chalamila aka Ray C is stuck in Nairobi after Kenyan promoters decided to switch off their phones on her.

Led by spokesperson Refigah, the promoters had contracted Ray C for a series of shows in Kenya including one that took place in Nakuru on the 7th of August which would lead to her final show in Sudan.

Sources told Mambo Badd, the Kenyan tour alone was supposed to earn the musician KSh800,000 and the agreement was that she gets her downpayment upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. She was to get the rest before she goes on stage in her first show, which was in Nakuru on Saturday.

Trouble brewed when fans in Nakuru asked for more songs and Refigah had to grab the microphone from Ray C and stopped the show. The promoters started accusing her of going against the contract, and she was forced to take a taxi to her hotel.

On Sunday morning, the promoters phones were all switched off and when Ray C managed to get one of them, she was threatened and told to go back to Dar es Salaam. Ray C's country manager, Maleek Buddy, was away on a business trip and was forced to fly back to Nairobi to meet Ray C and solve the issue. By Sunday evening, Buddy had arrived and was handling the matter withe the police.

As we speak, Ray C is still stuck in Nairobi. The Nakuru event featured various celebrities including:

Spin World Entertainment are back and this time its the semi finals of the Rebirth Season 1 competition.

Speaking exclusively to Mambo Badd, the operations manager of SpinWorld Entertainment Papsie Francis told us that this time the competition is crazier than ever. " We have run down the competition and its now going to include 4 regions: South Coast, West Coast, North Coast and The Island. We are also now working with Trybe Deejays as co-owners of the event."

The event which has been set for 28th of August at Kenya Cinema,Mombasa, looks at featuring several new groups including 2009 Kenya Coast Music Award and Nzumari Award winners NANA who missed out in the preliminaries.

Quayside Media director and Coast based DJ - DJ Lenium is the new entertainment manager at Cuba Libre Bar and Restaurant.

Speaking exclusively to Mambo Badd, Lenium informed us of his new position at the newly revamped club.

" Am here basically to add a new spice to the place thats it," he told us.

Already as manager he has poached 2 of Mombasa's fresh DJ's who are well known in the city. He told us he cant reveal at the moment who they are as they haven't left their place of work yet. Also in the bag is theme nights at the club so ladies night hitting every Wednesday and for the 1st time in Mombasa, he is fusing Jazz Nite with Open Mic for those who love poetry.

Popular music entrepreneur and CEO to the Nzumari Awards Eve Queen Adhiambo was yesterday arrested and booked at the Changamwe Police Station before being moved to Central Police Station for stealing her brother's TV.

According to sources, Mambo Badd was informed that Eve Queen was released on a cash bail last night before being arraigned in court today.

Mambo Badd spoke to Eve Queen, who claims the story is not true. " I was not arrested. Get your facts straight. My brother was the one arrested. As I speak to you I am at Pirates Beach so how could I have been arrested."

It is still not yet clear what was the cause of the arrest though sources close to Eve inform us, that she had stolen her brother's TV to repay a debt he owed her. When he called her for his TV, the source claims she insulted him.

I don't agree with a couple of clauses in the proposed new draft but I believe we will be able to change some with the provision that requires a million public signatures to enforce amendment.

On reason there exist no law on the land that is open to external influence as it is in our law in its view to perform its international obligation to allow international convention to become applicable in our land without parliament involvement. Several doubt on citizenship, Land, devolution,detention without trial,on counties etc

On conviction as a christian i will not allow others to bleed so that other people will roll on to affluence, it will be very unfair even to life itself. We can not stop and do nothing when we have the ability to speak on behalf of the unborn,whose life will become easily wished away just because of some REASONS. Expanding the provision for the extension of the Kadhi courts is completely unjustifiable, they could be left to be as they were.

On the part of the implementation of the draft if passed,that the parliament will enact some legislation and policies which we dont have at present as we vote is doubting because we will not be able to read there intention of the future but just suppose that they will do what they have always been good at being bought for political gains.which means they can enact anything.

MUNYA AND LERATO UP FOR EVICTION

Lerato and Munya are up for eviction this Sunday, August 08, 2010.

Once Big Brother announced to the Housemates that Munya and Tatiana were up for eviction this week, Tatiana was called into the Diary Room to go through with the "Save and Replace". She decided to save herself once again, and this time, all though she took forever to make the decision, she settled on South African Housemate, Lerato.

After a very long pause, Tatiana did the big reveal and walked out of the Diary Room to face the rest of the All Stars crew.

This is the second time this season Tatiana has been Head of House and has been forced to "Save and Replace".

Tatiana had initially nominated Lerato and Sheila this week. However, last week when she was up for eviction, she replaced herself with Hannington who was subsequently booted from the Big Brother All Stars House and into the Barn, together with Sammi, and both Barnmates are still in the game.

VAMPOSS TAKES CHAMELEONE TO COURT

Ugandan ragga artist Vamposs aka Vampino wants to take the Leone Island artist Jose Chameleone to court after he tried breaking his jaw last week because of women.

Mambo Badd has received word that after a thorough thumping at the hands of Basiima Ogenze singer Jose Chameleone and his gang of hooligans, he has declared war on him.

A close pal told us, "He has already lined up a team of lawyers who will fight for him in court if the police don't help bring Jose down, he is ready to open up a full bloodied war on him even if it means loosing a life"

We hear the Bayuda singer who has countless charges of assault at police has been trying to get in contact with Vampino to settle the case of assault through Ras Tadius but all in vain.

We are told he even offered him UShs 2m(Ksh 80,000) but Vampino rejected it.

Meryl dished the dirt on Mwisho after being cornered by Sheila in the garden, revealing the "bushman" is a “good sucker.”

Sheila and Uti had a laugh earlier on Monday when they discussed how Mwisho’s clothes were found on Sheila’s suitcase in the morning and this lead them to wonder when and why he had taken his clothes off.

Meryl and Mwisho slept in the same bed on Sunday night and a lot of the Housemates were curious about what might have happened in the middle of the night between the "kissing couple".

Uti revealed that Mwisho brushed his teeth twice on Monday morning and speculated as to why, much to the amusement of the rest.

Sheila then asked what had happened with Mwisho, and Meryl stated nothing had happened except to say: “What I can reveal though, is that Mwisho is a good toucher and sucker".

DYNAMIQ SET TO HIT MOMBASA THIS WEEKEND

Kenyan - Sudanese Reggae based artist Dynamiq is set to hit Mombasa this weekend to pay tribute to the late Joseph Hill of the Culture fame and Lucky Dube at the Pirates Club.

Speaking to Mambo Badd, the CEO of BJ Entertainment who will be hosting the show told us the preparations are set. " Its going to be a reggae beach party with a difference on the 7th of August. We are planning on having the reggae sensation here for the very first time in Mombasa."

The artist was here a few months ago at a show that went down at KICC Nairobi which was a total flop.

"I GOT NO BEEF WITH DEFINE!" SAYS BUNDUKI

Pirates Club latest resident DJ - DJ Bunduki claims he got no beef with VJ Define.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that the new DJ on the block who is currently the official Coastal Films DJ had beef with DJ Bunduki just a week after he left Club Lambada for Pirates Club.

The whole beef issue arose with the fact that Baraka FM had approached DJ Bunduki to take over DJ Lenium's slot, after he quit the station, and do the Saturday Night Show. Bunduki claims they told him he wont be paid and so he refused.

Our sources reveal that Define heard that the slot was open and agreed to do the show for free.

"Am on a payroll, boss!" Define told Mambo Badd. "Those are rumors so if Bunduki's game is down, let him not use me as a stepping stone."

On the other hand, we talked to Bunduki and he claims he doesn't understand where the beef is coming from.

"If the boy got the show, good for him! He is not being paid so let him not claim that they are paying him," he told Mambo Badd. "First of all, who is Define? I hear he does recorded sets. I have been in the business for a long time. When i started, he had no idea he would even be a DJ! You want to get famous, don't use my name!"

VJ Define currently does the Saturday Set It Off Show on Baraka FM from 8pm to Midnight.
