DEBRA SANAIPEI BACK IN THE COUNTRY

Former Miss Tourism and grand daughter to Honorable William Ole Ntimama, Debra Sanaipei is back in the country to ensure her vote is counted on Wednesday in the upcoming referendum vote.

The 25 year old former beauty queen is currently residing in Britain as a law student and flew in the country on Tuesday.

Debra, who 5 years ago had drama at the airport when she was flying back to Britain to celebrate her birthday in Easter, is happy to be with her folks and push in her vote.

Debra was planning to board KQ Flight 102 when she was "intercepted by the officers for questioning." A source connects her woes to a debt she owes a local PR firm which she had contracted to help launch her charity organisation, Malaika Network Foundation.

The source claims that the former beauty queen had defaulted on the payment of the agreed Sh1.8 million fee and was getting out of the country to avoid an impending lawsuit. The company had contacted a debt collection agency who failed to recover the sum from Debra, and were in the process of filing a suit. When contacted, Debra initially claimed that it was the KQ officials who had stopped her from traveling, due to a technical problem with her visa.

"I did not check my visa, which had expired on (March) 16. I had to get my luggage from the plane and return my boarding pass," she said. But KQ head of corporate communications, Hajila Komora, says Debra had checked in Unit 2, given her boarding pass and proceeded to Immigration when one of the officials checked her passport and called in her supervisor. The supervisor then vanished and returned with two CID officers. "The officers advised that she be offloaded from the plane," says Hajila.
