MOMBASA GOT TALENT QUARTERFINALS

The Quarterfinals for the on-going Mombasa Got Talent went underway yesterday at the Club Bull at the A.S.K. Mombasa Showground hosted by VJ Delph and saw 16 acts go through from a group of 32 that went through last weekend.

There was alot of shock when 2 acts including a lady who did a solo and a group who did a quintet did not go through. Funny enough out of the 16, 9 are dancing acts while the rest is a mixture of singing, comedy and acrobatic talent.

Some of the acts that made it through to the quarterfinals included DABS (Shown On The Left), Link 5, Tsunami Dancers, Breakers, House Of Talent among others. During the elimination, UGK Dancers brought the house down with their breath taking performance that the judging academy decided to bring them back for a pro-bono performance for the sake of calming down the crowd.

Every week the judging academy has guest judges who add some juice in the flow of the vote with 3 outstanding judges running the whole show. They include:

  1. Steven Muendos - Entertainment Writer (East African Standard)
  2. Hassan Faisal - Managing Director of The Tamarind Village
  3. Mama Sizo - German Artist based In Mombasa

The guest judges during the Quarter Finals were Colonel Moustapha and his fiancee Marya. Rumor had it that Moustapha was set to propose to Marya on board the Tamarind Dhow.

According to Mombasa Got Talent host, VJ Delph, the show is a growing success and he is looking forward to seeing who will walk away with the jackpot. "Its competitive, I wont lie! Even the guest judges at times wonder where this talent comes from but all I can say is, Its not over until the fat lady sings!"

The winner of Mombasa Got Talent Season 1 walks away with a jackpot of Ksh 100,000.

The reality show has been sponsored by Visual Jay Entertainment, Places & Faces Forum, Coastal Films and The Bull.
