MIKE SAKATA BANTU
Word has reached our Mambo Badd desk that there is bad blood looming between Coast based Gospel icon Bantu and video production stable Sakata Media.
The story behind the fire is that the song Sonko recorded by Bantu where he features Nairobi based Juliani was to have its video shot by Mike Sakata of Sakata Media. Half of the deposit had already been paid to Sakata Media including transportation charges and hotel bookings for the Sakata Media crew to stay since the video was to be shot in Mombasa.
Well, yesterday everything was changed. Bantu was not a happy man sighting short-changing in the running of how the video was to be shot. "These guys are not serious. We agreed that I was shooting the video after the Groove Awards but 2 months later and we are still on square 1," he said as we spoke to him. "Imagine Mike wants us to shoot it in August! I got a clothware to launch, my media & design career, relocating to Nairobi and my album launch to think of. I cant let anything hold me back!"
Bantu told us that he has already spoken to Rich Pictures and has already paid them the full amount for the video. Rich Pictures is the same video company that shot his video Ka Umeokoka where he features Tim Tim from Jeddan Records who also produced the track.
"I got no beef with Sakata Media na Mike ni boy wangu but I dont mix God's business with friendship!" he told us.
Bantu was attending an African Cultural Day at the ACK Memorial Cathedral where he was one of the guests.
