GIG REVIEW: RISE UP CONCERT

Mambo Badd checked into Cross Roads Church at 2pm and we found the sound check just done.

Event started about 25 minutes later with emcee /  actor from the local drama Wash and Set Oneal Nyanje better known on set as Dulla taking the mic as the events host. He introduced the youth pastor - Pastor Robert Lundi  who led the church in a word of prayer followed by Stroc The Band taking the starting block.

The church was quite packed because by the time it hit 3pm, it was hard to spot an empty seat from a glance.

Several performances were set for the day including young dancers all the way from Kisauni Baptist known as Shinning Stars. Other performances included Mteule and Chief, NEMEL Dancers, Denno and Mazigizao & Pharaoh (who recently gave his life to Christ).

Peter Odanga, Director of Word of Life International;Ukunda, shared the word in a powerful way after he introduced a visiting team from the United States known as Dave Huizing And The Team who did an act that left the crowd speechless.

The 3 performances of the night must have come from first of all DABS Dancers who did something close to what you would see on America's Best Dance Crew. Dressed in yellow, they struck the floor with a breath-taking performance. Most probably it was anticipation to a celebration since one of the members - Lash was celebrating his birthday yesterday.
The 2nd best performance came from Chronicles The Band. Awesome performance with a rock twist to it. People were actually bobbing their heads and responding quite well to the songs. Plus it was easier with the lyrics of all the songs they sang being projected to the wall at the front: Perfect Sing Along Chorus!

The best performance of the night came from Groove Award Winner Juliani who had been rumoured to be in Kisumu but was this time accompanied by his band including Rhyme X Producer Gittz and recalled DJ - DJ Vic. Also accompanying him was his fiancĂ©e L.C., who did her lines in the song Hela which summed up the performances. Doing live performances of hit tracks like Ka Si Sisi, Damu Ya Yesu, Church On Monday, Biceps, Mtaa Mentality, Rauka, and Pagez Za Bible.
We managed to grab Juliani backstage and he told us that he is still campaigning with the K4C10 team plus also doing a peace campaign for Imani, Upendo and Tumaini. After that he gave us each a hand band.

We also spoke to L.C. (Linda Chemtut) who revealed to us that she has a fear for crowds. She also told us she is still working at Moi University in Eldoret and is doing much better after her accident.

On our way out we ran into Jean Marc, who informed us that there was no love loss after he was fired by Juliani but now they made up and its business as usual.

All In All, This Was A Perfect Way To Spend A Sunday Afternoon. The church was celebrating 8 years since it began!
