Self Proclaimed Queen of the Coast and the 2009 Kenya Coast Music Award Winner for Female Artist Of The Year Tierra Gee has been up to alot of community work as her way of giving back to the community. Her efforts did not go un-noticed and Mambo Badd found out that she is currently the 'Maliza Umaskini' Entertainment Ambassador.
The initiative started by Sadat Muhindi is building momentum with countrywide tours and sensitization to the public on how you can use your talent to the fullest.
"You can call us your local talent tappers and so far we are striking 2 major talents: soccer and music. After that we transform that talent into constructive work," she told us over the phone. "We recently came from Western Kenya and it was so successful. We auditioned the crowd and managed to pick 8 talented people who we paid their transportation costs, accommodation in Nairobi and training. Now we have recorded a song titled Maliza Umaskini at Grandpa Records which I have been featured and even shot the video courtesy of Boomba Video's."
Both the audio and video are being launched tomorrow on radio and tv stations around the country.
"I'm so happy am doing what I have always dreamt of doing and that is helping the community," she added. "Imagine out of the 8 we trained, 1 is a watchman from Turkana who is so happy with what we are doing."
Tierra told us that they have bigger plans of bigger projects and moving into the interior parts of the country. She also informs us that Tanzanian artist Ray C is the next artist to join the Maliza Umaskini Bandwagon.
Maliza Umaskini's major event was at Matunda Primary School where they sensitized the Western and Rift Valley Province. The event was graced by Ringtone of the Pamela fame, Ngangalito (Tusker Project Fame 3 Runner's Up) and Tierra Gee.
